MARACANÁ
Millenium x Lord Loxley I
2015 | WESTF Stallion | Black | 17.2hh
Maracana is Australia’s chance to tap into the valuable Millennium blood. Millennium has produced over ten grand prix horses, countless FEI horses and over 30 licensed stallions. His incredible type, talent, and canter have been passed on to Maracana, who is in turn throwing these traits to his own offspring.
Maracana has a unique pedigree bringing together two powerhouse heritages, both evident at the recent Paris Olympics.
On his sireline, Millennium is the sire of crowd favourite Maxima Bella – at the incredible young age of 8 she certainly made an impression at Paris. Her pedigree combines Millennium with a World Cup I son on the damline, just as Maracana does. Another currently successful Grand Prix horse Matchball OLD (Sonke Rothernberger), sired by Millennium, also has W-Line on the damside. Millennium is sired by Easy Game- sire of Dalera, multiple Olympic Gold Medal winner, and Hermes, 4th place in the Dressage finals at Paris Olympics. Easy Game is sired by Gribaldi, a horse with an incredible strike rate of producing Grand Prix Horses, most famously Totilas. Gribaldi directly sired two competitors (Greek Air, Intermezzo VH Meerdaalhof) at the Paris Olympics, and was grandsire of three more (Gotilas, Total Hope, Toto Jr). Gribaldi was damsire to two additional Paris dressage competitors (Aquamarijn, All at Once) and is also damsire of Bordeaux, sire of Fame (Carl Hester- Bronze Medal Team) and Bluetooth (Wandres, part of the Gold Medal Winning German Team). Gribaldi definitely made his mark as one of the most influential stallions in Paris Olympic competitors-He was found in the first four generations of SEVEN of the top 18 placegetters in the Individual Grand Prix Final!
On the newly released 2024 WBFSH top 100 sire rankings, Totilas comes in at 4th place and Bordeaux at 9th, both carrying Gribaldi blood, Millenium himself ranks 18th, very good for a fairly young stallion with the oldest of his offspring in the rankings only 12yo. Gribaldi ranks 32. Incredible to have three generations of a sire line all present in the top rankings: Gribaldi himself, Gribaldi son Totilas, and Gribaldi grandson Millenium. Clearly a strong line for a breeding stallion to carry.
To the damside of Maracana’s lineage, his damsire Lord Loxley is the grandsire of Glamourdale, 3rd place Individually at the Paris Olympics. Lord Leatherdale, son of Lord Loxley, besides siring Glamourdale is also the sire of GP horses Everdale (Also an Olympian) and Chippendale -as well as nearly 15 other GP competitors. Lord Leatherdale is damsire of Times Kismet (now ridden by Jessica von Bredow-Werndl). Secret Agent, phenomenal young horse campaigned by Charlotte Dujardin, shares the same bottom mareline as Lord Loxley. (Secret Agent’s 4th dam Doolittle is a full sister to Lord Loxley’s 3rd
dam Dolitha)
From Maracana’s direct damline – Glamdale WP, a black stallion that won over many fans at the recent World Championships for young horses where he placed 2nd in the 5yo Final. Glamdale’s dam is a full sister to Maracana. Maracana’s bottom damline rounds out his pedigree with Holsteiner legends Landgraf (Ladykiller) and Ramiro Z, both invaluable in a pedigree.
Maracana brings incredibly valuable Trakehner blood through his sireline, the same blood as Dual Olympic Champion Dalera, Maxima Bella, Totilas, Hermes, and Bordeaux. His damline is equally impressive, sharing Lord Loxley blood found in Paris Olympic placegetter Glamourdale. Maracana is Australia’s only Millennium son available through chilled semen. [This is an excellent opportunity given that Millennium frozen semen quality is questionable, and Easy Game and Gribaldi are not
available for Australia]
Pairing recommendation: This pedigree, specifically the Millenium blood, appears to be crossing very well with De Niro and other D-Line mares (Examples: Morricone, Matchball OLD, Mist of Titanium, Lowlands, Marc Cain) He is also a good outcross for Donnerhall and Sandro Hit line mares as his
pedigree does not contain either of these stallions.
